History in Yotsubashi

It is Yotsubashi of the nearest station to the office. It seems that the history of the place name Yotsubashi comes from a collective name for four bridges (Kamitsunagu Bridge, Shimotsunagu Bridge, Sumiya Bridge, Yoshinoya Bridge) that were built at the point where the Nishiyokobori River and Nagahori River intersected in a cross shape during the Edo period. Back in the Edo period, the scene of bridges built in a ‘ro’-shaped layout was so lively that it was even depicted as a famous spot in ‘Naniwa Hyakkei.’ The surrounding area apparently supported Osaka’s economy as a lumber depot.
